With some areas of the province seeing significant flooding this spring, the director of public works in Quinte West says staff there are ahead of the game, in case they see similar conditions.
During a flood relief update on Monday, Chris Angelo noted that senior city staff started meeting about potential flooding two months ago and continue to get daily updates on local water conditions.
He says it’s a standard procedure every spring but weather conditions this year have made it more important to be on top of things.
Thousands of sandbags have been handed out around the city and more are on the way, but to this point, there hasn’t been any significant flooding reported in Quinte West.
Angelo says all of that has been done as a precaution.
Any Quinte West residents who are concerned about, or are experiencing flooding on their property, can contact city hall.
