Quinte West Council is giving permission to a city business owner to issue her own parking tickets outside her store.
Brandy Brown of Off The Hook at 35 Ontario Street in Trenton says she’s had problems with people parking in her “customers only” spots and not shopping at her store.
Mayor Jim Harrison says the move will help out a limited by-law enforcement team, which includes just three officers and will be a benefit for Brown and her shop.
There are 12 other businesses in the city who can issue their own tickets.
By-law enforcement officers will make a visit to the store and do some training with staff, and any fines resulting from tickets issued will go back to city hall as usual.
