As various parts of the Quinte Region deal with flooding, a warning is going out to homeowners using wells.
Hastings Prince Edward Public Health officials say that flooding can cause contamination to well water and if you suspect your well has been impacted by flooding, you should not drink the water.
Instead you should use an alternate drinking source, like bottled water, for drinking or domestic needs.
You should also make sure to test your well water once flood levels recede and you can get information on that, as well as how to disinfect your well post-flood, from HPE Public Health.
The health unit says the warning does not apply to anyone on a municipal drinking water system.
