Brighton residents worried about flooding have a couple of options when it comes to using sandbags to protect their homes and properties.
The municipality says if you’re able to fill your own sandbags, bulk sand and bags can be picked up on Shoal Point Road, the Gosport boat ramp, 67 Sharp Road, the Ontario Street boat ramp and Greenway Circle.
Additionally, the town has modified some plow trucks to enable on-site sandbag filling on a priority basis, with that service only available if equipment and staff resources permit.
If you need more information on sandbag procedures you can contact the public works department at 613-475-1162 and anyone who is interested in volunteering to help other residents with sandbagging can call 613-475-1744, or email bfd@brighton.ca.
