A sports and fitness competition for firefighters is coming back to Quinte West.
Council has approved a by-law agreeing to host the regional FireFit event at Centennial Park, on Sunday June 30 and Monday July 1, in the parking lot beside the wake board park.
The event will run in conjunction with Canada Day festivities, with individual and team races, that include tower climb, hose pack carry, hose hoist, forcible entry, hose advance and victim rescue stations.
The city has approved $20,000 to support the event, the same amount approved when Quinte West hosted FireFit regional in 2017.
The city also hosted the FireFit nationals in 2008 and is expecting 130 firefighters and their families to attend the event this year.
