On April 13, 2019 at approximately 3:50 a.m. officers from the Frontenac Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a pedestrian being struck by a tractor trailer on the Highway 401 west lanes about 1 kilometre east of Highway 15 in the City of Kingston.
The pedestrian, Robert B Gale, a 62-year-old male of Prince Edward County, Ontario, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) were called to assist with the investigation.
Highway 401 westbound lanes were detoured at Joyceville Road until they were reopened at approximately 1 p.m.
As a result of the investigation, OPP do not anticipate any charges against the transport driver.
