It’s becoming a familiar story for the Wellington Dukes in the OJHL playoffs. Come from behind and win. And often on the road.
Tyson Gilmour scored at 1:02 of overtime to rally the Dukes over the North York Rangers 3-2 to take a 2-1 lead in the OJHL’s South-East Conference championship. It was Gilmour’s third of the playoffs and 18th point in 15 games.
North York led 2-0 early in the second period. Brett Humberstone scored at 13:27 of the second to start the comeback. Frank Vitucci pulled the Dukes even at 11:40 of the third. Logan Bateman stopped 39 of 41 shots.
The series goes back to Wellington for game 4 tomorrow (Tues) night at 7:30 at the Lehigh Arena.
In Junior “C” playoffs, the Napanee Raiders will play the Alliston Hornets in the semi finals for the Schmaltz Cup Provincial championships.
Napanee has been on standby since Wednesday night when they completed a sweep of Uxbridge. Thje Raiders are 12-0 in the post season. Alliston eliminated Mount Forest Friday night. That series went six. The schedule for the next round has not been released yet.
Exeter and Grimsby will play in the other Provincial semi final.
