Whitby whips Wellington
The Wellington Dukes only gave up 21 shots on goal last night but six found the back of the net.
The Whitby Fury scored 4 times on their first 14 shots and coasted to a 6-1 win over the visiting Dukes. Derek McVey scored three in the win. Brett Humberstone scored for Wellington.
Whitby opens a 2-1 lead in the OJHL’s East Division Final. Game 4 is tomorrow at 7:30 at the Lehigh Arena in Wellington.
Napanee tops Bruins
Liam Mroueh scored twice with an assist to lead the Napanee Raiders over the Uxbridge Bruins 3-1 in game one of the PJHL Junior “C” Eastern Conference championship.
Nelson Powers added a goal and assist. Napanee outshot the Bruins 44-19.
Game 2 is Friday at 7:45 in Uxbridge.
Eastside Ravens open Provincials
The Eastside Secondary School Ravens are 1-1 after the first day of the OFSAA Girls “AA” Hockey championships in Midland.
Eastside lost 3-1 to Lo-Ellen Park Secondary from Sudbury in their opening game. The Ravens followed that with a 5-1 victory over Almaguins Secondary from South River.
Eastside faces undefeated St. David Catholic Secondary from Waterloo in their final round robin game at 10:45 this morning (Wed).
Kay rink prevails in Brampton
For the second year in a row, the Under 12 Boys rink from the Quinte Curling club, has won the the Chinquacousy bonspiel in Brampton.
Carson Kay’s rink bested the 12 team field as they advance to the Provincial championships in Almonte this weekend.
Kay’s rink includes lead Bennett McIntosh, Second Nathan Clark and Vice Gabe DeCastris.
