Quinte Red Devils Weekly Report- Feb 25– March 3
Free Flow Petroleum- Minor Midget
The Minor Midget team had a very busy weekend at the OMHA championship and have qualified for a spot at the upcoming OHL Cup!
The Devils were one of five teams participating in the OMHA Championships held at Iroquois Park in Whitby this weekend. They played a round robin against each team and qualified for the bronze medal game against York Simcoe. Although coming up short in the medal round the team finished fourth to move on to the OHL Cup that is taking place March 13– 18th.
Scores for the weekend:

6-3 loss vs Halton Hills- Goals by Michaud, Brady Darrach, Butler. Assists from Michaud (2) Connor Brooks. Player of the Game- LaPalm. Goalie Fraser
7-0 loss vs Whitby- Player of the Game- Broek. Goalie- Lucas

KKP- Major Atom
The KKP Major Atoms played two games over the weekend.
On Saturday the Devils lost 2-1 in overtime to the Central Ontario Wolves.
On Sunday the Devils lost 5-4 in overtime to the Whitby Wildcats.
The Devils have two games this upcoming weekend against the Wildcats and Wolves.
Foley Bus Lines- Major Bantam
On Thursday the Devils hosted the Whitby Wildcats for game 3 of their series. The first period was held scoreless and the only goal of the second period came from the Wildcats at the 4 minute mark. Quinte would tie the game just a minute into the third period. The rest of the period was back and forth but neither team could find the back of the net for the go ahead goal. The game would go into another 10 minute sudden death overtime period. This is the second time in 3 games an OT period was needed. It was the same result as the first OT as Quinte would score with only 45 seconds left to win the game and take the series 3-0.
The Red Devils will be taking on the Richmond Hill Coyotes in round 2 of the OMHA playoffs. The second round action will begin on March 9th with game time and location to follow.
Madison Excavating- Major Peewee
The Madison Excavating Peewee Red Devils made it a sweep with 3 straight wins in the first round of playoffs over the Central Ontario Wolves.
Quinte hosted game 3 in Wellington on Friday night. The Devils fell behind 0-2 early in the game but battled back with 2 goals in the second period. First goal of the game for Quinte came from Ty Therrien, assisted by Landon Wright. Shortly after Jared Langdon tied up the game on the set up from Bradenton Rogers. It was Gage Butcher who scored the go ahead goal in the third, assisted by Rogers. The Devils would hold on to the lead and win the series. Mike McIvor was in net for the win.
The Madison Excavating Peewees will face Markham Waxers in round 2 starting later this week.
Bonn Law- Minor Bantam
The Bonn Law Minor Bantams started their second round of playoffs this past weekend and split their games with Barrie Colts.
Aidan Crowley started in net at home in an exciting overtime winner (4-3). Ethan Miedema put QRD on the scoreboard early with helper to Ethan Quick. Barrie answered with two power play goals. Jack Dever netted tying goal on a rebound from Christopher Brydges prior to intermission. Miedema secured the go ahead goal on a pass from Quick at the 3 minutes mark in the third but a relentless Barrie squad tied it up shortly after sending the game into overtime. Dever netted the game winner from the point at the midpoint of OT with an assists to Quick and Brydges.
The boys travelled west Sunday evening and struggled to answer to an overpowering Barrie squad. Liam Murphy got the start between the pipes. QRD went down 3-0 early which gave Barrie the momentum to secure a 5-1 victory. The lone QRD goal came on a power play by Brydges with assists to Miedema and Quick.
The boys will look to go ahead in the series Tuesday night 8:30 at RCAF which is also the Minor Bantam Sponsor night. Hope to see you there.
Pita Pit- Minor Peewee
The Pita Pit Minor Peewees started there OMHA playoffs this weekend against the top ranked team Central Ontario Wolves. Each team would pull out a win in some fast paced exciting hockey to watch.
The team travelled to Lindsay on Saturday for an afternoon tilt.
The Devils fell short in this one with a 4-1 loss. Lone goal was scored by Ben Laird assisted by Kaiden Harmon. Reece Herman was in net for the Devils.
On Sunday the Red Devils would be back at home on Sunday for another afternoon battle. The Devils played all there regular season home games at the Belleville Wellness Centre but decided to go back to a place where they’ve had success in past years in Deseronto.
In a highly exciting game that went back-and-forth. The Red Devils would pull out a 4-3 win on home ice.
The Devils went down 1-0 early but battled back as Andrew MacNiel picked the top corner to tie it 1-1.
Deke Osterhout would put one on the board to give them a 2-1 lead.
Then Ben Laird would make it 3-1 Devils at the end of the first. Central battled back to tie it at 3-3 but Carter Chadwick would eventually get the game winner in a 4-3 win.
Assisting on goals were Laird, Owen Cassidy (2), Evan Erwin, Dawson McIntosh, Ben Sherwin and Kaiden Harmon. Liam Boyer took the win in net for the Devils.
The Pond at Rhino Sports & Playland- Minor Atom
The Rhino Sports Minor Atoms continue their round 2 series with the Barrie Colts. Saturday was game 2 against Barrie at their home barn in Madoc and the boys were looking for their second win.
Quinte got on the board quickly when Chase Cybulskie, from Brody Harrison, sneaked one pass the goalie. The score would remain 1-0 for Quinte until five mins left in the game when Barrie scored to tie the game. The game was going into overtime (again!). Maclean Chisholm passed to Nate Rashotte who drove to the net and scored. Charlie Vos was in net for the 2-1 overtime win. Quinte leads the series 2-0.
Quinte traveled to Barrie on Sunday for game 3 and were looking to sweep the series. Daniel Yeo was in net. The game was scoreless after the first period. Barrie scored in the second period, but Quinte fired right back when Rashotte went for the wrap around and Grayson Hunt put the rebound in the net. The game was tied. A few minutes later, Barrie scored again. The score was 2-1 for Barrie at the end of the second period. Barrie started off the third period with another goal. The Devils weren’t giving up yet. Ty Leavitt fired one at the net, Cybulskie picked up the rebound to Keegan Goulah for another goal. With five minutes left in the game, Quinte needed one more goal to tie it up. Unfortunately, the clock ran out and Quinte took the 3-2 loss against the Colts.
Quinte will be looking to secure another two points when they face off against Barrie for game 4 on Saturday in Madoc.
