After winning the opening game of the respective series the Wellington Dukes and Trenton Golden Hawks now find themselves in a best of 5.
At Lehigh Arena the Cobourg Cougars led 3-0 mid way through the second period then hung on for a 4-3 win over Wellington. Dukes coach John Druce says Cobourg’s fast start was the difference.
Andrew Rinaldi, Zach Uens and Ben Woodhouse scored for Wellington as they outshot the Cougars 34-27. That squares the series at one.
Druce says Wellington will have to play to their strengths in game 3 tomorrow in Cobourg.
Game 4 is Thursday in Wellington.
In Whitby, Noah Dollo scored at 9:21 of the second overtime as the Fury nudged Trenton 3-2 to even that set at one. Tiger McDonald scored both goals for the Golden Hawks as they outshot Whitby 50-32. Luke Pearson was the difference for the Fury. Game 3 is in Trenton tomorrow night at 7:30.
The second round of the Provincial Junior “C” playoff series begins tomorrow night with the Napanee Raiders hosting the Picton Pirates at 7:30 at the Strathcona Paper Centre. Game two is in Picton Thursday at 7:30.
