UPDATE @ 3:30 p.m.: Belleville Police have provided more information about a pair of crashes at the intersection of Bridge and Sidney Streets this afternoon.
The first happened just before 12:30 p.m. and involved two cars, with one person being taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Staff Sergeant Rene Aubertin says while a city police officer was responding to that first incident, their car was also struck at the scene by another vehicle, causing the second crash.
That officer was also taken to hospital to be checked out.
Traffic was tied up in the area for a little bit, but the intersection has since been cleared and Aubertin says both crashes are still being investigated.
