Guns, drugs and cash seized in joint law enforcement investigation

A joint law enforcement investigation has led to the arrest of three people from Napanee, one from Belleville and one from Scarborough.

The arrests stem from an investigtion between the Correctional Service of Canada and OPP Community Street Crime Unit, with the involvement of police in Belleville and Toronto as well.

Search warrants were executed at five locations this past Monday including a home and business in Napanee, a business in Prince Edward County and a home in Scarborough.

Three people were arrested in Napanee, one person was arrested in Scarborough and returned to the custody of the CSC and another person was arrested at a home in Belleville.

The charges range from conspiracy to commit an offence, to weapons and cocaine trafficking charges and are as follows:

Twenty-two-year-old Shaye Murdoch of Napanee has been charged with:

• Unlawful Possession and Storage of Firearms (5 counts)

• Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking

• Possession of the Proceeds of Crime Over $5000

• Conspiracy to Commit and Indictable Offence

Fifty-two-year-old Brian Murdoch of Napanee has been charged with:

• Unlawful Possession and Storage of Firearms (5 counts)

• Possession of cocaine for the Purposes of Trafficking

• Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5000

Fifty-one-year-old Sherry Murdoch of Napanee has been charged with:

• Unlawful Possession and Storage of Firearms (5 counts)

• Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking

• Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5000

Thirty-seven-year-old Jermaine Martinborough of Scarborough has had his parole revoked and has been charged with:

• Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking

• Trafficking Cocaine

• Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence

• Possession of Proceeds of Crime

Eighty-six-year-old Edward Enright of Belleville has been charged with:

• Conspiracy to Commit and Indictable Offence

• Possession of Proceeds of Crime

All of the suspects are scheduled to appear in  Napanee court in early March.

The investigation is continuing.
