The Belleville Senators went to overtime for the fourth straight game, but this time they get a win. Logan Brown converted a pass from Drake Batherson at 4:12 of o.t. to give the B-Sens a wild 7-6 win over the Marlies in Toronto. Batherson walks us through the winner.
Batherson finished with a goal and 3 assists while combining with linemates Brown and Nick Paul for 9 points. Paul returned to the Belleville lineup after two months with the parent Ottawa Senators. He scored a goal and assist. After playing sparingly in Ottawa Paul says it was good to see a lot of ice in the game.
Rookie Aaron Luchuk scored twice with an assist with defencemen Eric Burgdoerfer and Jordan Murray adding singles.
The game featured five lead changes and a frantic 2 goal third period comeback by Toronto to force the game to extra time.
Belleville now has points in 6 straight games to move into a tie for fifth in the AHL’s North Division.
A busy month continues for Belleville. They play in Laval Friday night then host the Rocket (Montreal Canadiens) Saturday at the CAA Arena. The B-Sens then go back to Toronto for a Sunday matinee.
Meanwhile the Ottawa Senators have recalled two more players from Belleville. Leading scorer Jack Rodewald and defenceman Cody Goloubef will join the parent team when they play the Maple Leafs tonight.
