McLellan does the trick for Picton
The Picton Pirates solidified their hold on second place in the Provincial Junior “C” Hockey League after grounding the Amherstview Jets 8-3.
Landon McLellan scored a hat trick for Picton while Devin Morrison added a pair. Derek Vos, Cooper Rogers and Jack Dow had the others.
Tonight the first place Napanee Raiders host the Campbellford Rebels at 7:30 at the Strathcona Paper Centre.
G-Hawks host Fury in battle for second
With 3 weeks to go in the Ontario Junior Hockey League’s regular season there is still plenty at stake.
Tonight second place in the East is on the line when the Trenton Golden Hawks host the Whitby Fury at the Dunc McDonald Community Gardens. Trenton is one point ahead of third place Whitby but the Fury have a game in hand.
The Wellington Dukes sit 3 points behind the G-Hawks who have two games in hand. Wellington is at Lindsay tonight. Both games are at 7:30.
B-Sens hit the road
It’s a rare Friday night off for the Belleville Senators as they prepare for a four game road trip. It begins tomorrow(Saturday) night in Binghamton followed by a Super Bowl Sunday matinee in Hershey Pennsylvania. The trip includes games in Toronto and Laval. CJBQ will have full coverage.
Benn “tries” in Australia
It was a good day for Napanee’s Britt Benn but a mediocre day for Canada at the the Sydney Sevens Rugby championship in Australia.
Benn scored two tries as the Canadian women opened the day with a 36-12 win over Number 11 Figi. However the Canadians then squandered a 14 point lead in a 15-14 loss to underdog Ireland. It was just the second ever win for the Irish over the Canadians in 13 matches. Benn set up Breanne Nicholas for a try in the loss.
Canada plays Russia in its final pool game today.
O.C.A.A. Basketball tonight
The Loyalist Lancers host the George Brown Huskies in College Basketball play tonight.
The Lady Lancers play George Brown at 6 followed by the Men at 8.
