It seems representatives from the Grace Inn Shelter and Belleville’s mayor will have a face to face meeting next week, to address the ongoing concerns with the length of time it’s taking to build the shelter on Church Street.
Following an open letter to the city from the shelter board, Mayor Mitch Panciuk has responded by offering the group a chance to meet next week, to discuss the facility and more ways to increase “immediate overnight services for those currently in need in our community.”
Panciuk says he will be extending the invitation as well to three councillors who serve on the Hastings-Quinte Community and Human Services Committee.
The mayor is also hoping the shelter board will expand on its construction timelines during the meeting and provide a clearer understanding of what services will be available for the remainder of the year.
