C M L Snider school scored the highest in the Fraser Institute’s annual rankings of Ontario elementary schools.
The Wellington school scored 7.5 out of 10 and was ranked 559 out of 3,046 schools surveyed.
The rankings are based on the results of province wide testing in reading, writing, and math.
Other schools topping the local list in the Hastings Prince Edward District School Board were Foxboro Public with a 6.7 and
Sir John A. Macdonald of Belleville with a 6.5 ranking.
Doing very poorly were North Hastings in Bancroft, Marmora Public, and Prince of Wales school in Belleville.
Topping the Quinte region rankings in the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic School Board were St. Joseph of Belleville with a 6.2 and
St. Gregory in Picton with a 5.9.
St. Mary school in Trenton scored a 4.0 and St. Michael of Belleville followed closely behind with a 3.8 mark.
In the Kawartha Pine Ridge School Board Murray Centennial School just outside of Trenton scored 7.1 while Brighton Public received a 6.3 mark.
Cite Jeunesse of the CEP de l’est de l’Ontario board received a 6.3 score.
Sixteen schools tied for first in the overall list of 3,046 schools. Many of them were private schools and most were from the Greater Toronto Area.
