Recent rain, warm weather and snow melt have forced Quinte Conservation to begin some dam operations in the Napanee River Watershed.
In an effort to make sure there is enough room to account for spring flooding, dam operations have started on Second and Third Depot Lakes, in order to bring down the levels of those reservoirs.
As those levels start to drop, ice stability on those bodies of water will decline, making the ice unsafe in some areas.
Quinte Conservation says you should always use caution when on, or around waterways and stay away from shorelines and off the ice.
