Season one of the Quinte Skyway Bridge rehabilitation project is complete.
Work began in September to prepare the bridge for major construction to start this coming spring and finished just before Christmas for the project’s winter shut-down.
Over the four-month span, workers have built a construction site access route off County Road 35. Along with a temporary dock for water access, they’ve also launched barges for construction platforms, made intersection modifications at Highway 49 and York Road, and done a fair amount of work under the bridge.
This coming year Aecon Construction will be starting work on the first segment at the top of the bridge, replacing steel girders, bearings and the entire deck, along with continued rehabilitation of the piers below.
Drivers should expect single lane closures throughout the upcoming construction season.
