A political trailblazer in the region has passed away.
Hastings County officials say former Warden Margaret Walsh died on Monday.
Walsh was the first woman to be named Warden of Hastings County when she was elected to the position in 2003 and served for 20 years on Tyendinaga Township Council, 13 of those years as Reeve.
Flags at Hastings County buildings are being lowered to recognize her years of service.
Funeral arrangements have yet to be released.
