As injuries mount in Ottawa and Belleville the roster of the American Hockey League Senators will have a different look when they play in Laval tomorrow (Wed) night.
The Ottawa Senators have recalled forward Paul Kelly and defenceman Stefan Elliott from Belleville. They join Eric Burgdoerfer and Nick Paul who were recalled last week leaving the B-Sens short handed due to injuries of their own.
In response Belleville has called up forward Aaron Luchuk from the ECHL’s Brampton Beast and signed free agent forward Justin Auger to a professional tryout agreement.
The 21 year old Luchuk was the top scorer in the OHL last season. The Kingston native scored 50 goals and 65 assists but was off to a slow start in the Pros. He’s been better lately with 6 goals and 13 points in 23 games.
Auger is a former 4th round pick of the Los Angeles Kings and played two games for them last year. This season he’s been with the AHL’s Rockford Ice Hogs and the ECHL’s Florida Everblades.
Belleville play in Laval (Montreal Canadiens) tomorrow night then moves on to Allentown Pennsylvania to play the LeHigh Valley Phantoms (Philadelphia Flyers) on Friday followed by a trip to Binghamton (New Jersey) to play the Devils on Saturday. All games can be heard on 800 CJBQ and cjbq.com.
