Two local figure skaters and their partners are on their way to the Canadian Tire National Championships next month in New Brunswick.
Trennt Michaud of Trenton and Evelyn Walsh of London won the gold medal in Senior Pairs at the Skate Canada Challenge in Edmonton. This is their first year competing at the senior Grand Prix level.
Michaud is a graduate of the Prince Edward Figure Skating Club and is now affiliated with the Trenton Figure Skating Club.

Meanwhile 16-year-old Chloe Choinard of Frankford and a graduate of the Stirling Figure Skating Club, and partner Mathieu Ostiguy of Quebec earned gold in the Junior Pairs division of the Skate Canada Challenge.
Both Michaud and Choinard were born in Belleville.
The National Championships are in Saint John New Brunswick January 13 to the 20.
