The “Battle of Quinte” has been decidedly one sided to date.
Tim Fallowfield’s first period goal held up as the Wellington Dukes shutout the Trenton Golden Hawks 2-0 at the “Dunc”. Olivier Lafreniere turned away all 36 shots he faced for his third shutout of the season as the Dukes won for the third time in Trenton this season and have taken 7 of 8 points. Lafreniere says it’s easy to get up for games against the Golden Hawks.
Brett Humberstone also scored and Ben Woodhouse added two assists for the Dukes.
Golden Hawks forward Peter Falavena says the two teams are evenly matched.
There are two games left between the two, both in Wellington.
The Dukes are home to the Toronto Junior Canadiens on Friday while Trenton hosts the Kingston Voyageurs.
In Provincial Junior “C” play, the Picton Pirates blew out the Georgina Ice 8-0.
Nick Kirby-Palliser, Noah Brant and Griffin Conger scored twice and Brennan Bush turned in the 34 save road shutout.
And the Provincial Junior “C” Hockey League’s Tod Division Player of the Month is Campbellford Rebels forward Benny Scarr. He scored 9 goals in 4 games including 4 in a loss to Little Britain on November 11th.
