A well known Belleville writer, social activist, and British World War II air force veteran is in critical condition at Belleville General Hospital.
And 95-year-old Harry Leslie Smith’s son is not impressed with the healthcare system.

The younger Smith blames the delay in transfer to intensive care on the ‘politics of austerity” in Ontario.
According to the report, Quinte Health Care officials said yesterday (Wednesday) that the elder Smith was about to be moved to intensive care.
In a tweet Wednesday afternoon John Smith said his father did praise the staff at Belleville General for doing excellent work in spite of very trying circumstances.
All of Ontario’s hospitals have been struggling with high patient volumes and long wait times.
