Both the Wellington Dukes and Trenton Golden Hawks had to work overtime yesterday but it was worth it.
Frank Vitucci capped his hat trick at 1:51 of o.t. as the Dukes defeated the hometown Lindsay Muskies 5-4. Jacob Vreugdenhil and Ben Woodhouse also scored for Wellington but the busiest player in the game was Dukes goaltender Dannick Francouer as the Dukes were outshot 56-24.
The Dukes are in Cobourg tonight.
In Trenton, Steven Elliott scored 17 seconds into the second overtime to give the Golden Hawks a 4-3 victory over the Brantford 99’s. It was Elliott’s second of the game to go with an assist. Peter Falivena and Jacob Campbell also scored for the G-Hawks.
Trenton is in Newmarket on Thursday then host Oakville Friday.
In Junior “C” hockey, Nicholas Nabuurs stopped 23 shots to backstop the Napanee Raiders over Amherstview 6-0. Evan Foley scored a goal and two assists.
And the Campbellford Rebels, coming off their first win of the season Saturday dropped a 3-2 decision to the Georgina Ice.
