In a rare occasion, super heroes and villains came together for a good cause, supporting the Belleville General Hospital Foundation at its annual gala on Saturday.
Hundreds of people filled the Avaya building, dressed as their favourite super heroes or comic book and movie villains, to raise money for new and updated medical equipment at BGH.
Outgoing Executive Director Heather Smith told reporters the support for the hospital continues to be overwhelming.
She adds this year they’re trying to raise $350,000 for new orthopedic surgery equipment.
Close to $38,000 was raised during the live auction, with more than $66,000 raised during the Fund-A-Need portion of the event, where donations were made directly to the hospital foundation.
Those totals don’t include any anonymous donations, or proceeds from the silent auction, with the final numbers set to be announced by the BGHF in the coming days.
Steve Cook was also announced as the foundation’s incoming Executive Director.
