POPOVICH RETURNS TO JUNIOR
Goaltender Anthony Popovich won’t get the chance to play in his first NHL exhibition game this season.
After being invited to their main camp earlier this week the Dallas Stars released the 19 year old Belleville native. He will re-join the OHL’s Guelph Storm where he played 60 games and led the league in saves.
CHLAPIK IMPRESSES
Belleville Senators forward Filip Chlapik is making a strong case to stick in the NHL this season.
Chlapik scored Ottawa’s lone goal while on the power play in last night’s 4-1 exhibition loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Canadian Tire Centre.
Ottawa Senators Head Coach Guy Boucher told Post Media before the game “Every time I see this guy, he goes down (to Belleville of the AHL), he comes up and he has picked it up every time”. “He’s harder. He’s tougher. He gets it. You can see he has definitely become a pro. One thing is for sure, he’s knocking on the door.”
