Tyendinaga Township has put a price tag on the municipality’s response to a group of wild horses roaming the area of Blessington and Weese Roads last May.
CAO Steve Mercer says all-in, the township ended up footing a bill of $24,000 to deal with the issue, including legal costs, fence and truck rentals, and storage for the animals.
He says the township has also entered a pound keeper agreement with Shawn Mack of Mack Horse Sales in Napanee, to have any future stray farm animals taken in, until a proper home can be found.
Seventy-year-old Charlotte Bright is set to stand trial on mischief and other charges in January, in Napanee, in relation to the incident.
