Two equipment break-downs hit Hastings Manor Long Term Care facility in Belleville this week, one concerning the heat wave, the other affecting the upcoming winter season.
The air-conditioning unit broke down in a section of the building leaving many residents without cool air.
Hastings County Clerk Jim Duffin told Hastings County Council on Thursday a portable unit was in place by Wednesday night.
The Long Term Care committee will review why the breakdown occurred and have the equipment rebuilt.
Meanwhile, council approved spending $188,000 on replacing five rooftop burner and heat exchangers, due to extensive rusting.
Duffin said the risk of not doing the work could result in heating failure during winter, requiring expensive auxiliary heating during repairs.
