Ontario’s Long Term Care facilities are moving away from the institutional model of care to a more social model of living.
Hastings County council heard a report, at its meeting on Thursday, that the idea is to change the facilities, creating a more home-like atmosphere for the residents.
Long Term Care Chair Paul Jenkins, told Quinte News, for instance, there will be “a lot of cognitive things, such as displays on walls and interactive objects.”
Jenkins, who is Mayor of Bancroft, says there will be changes for staff as well.
Warden Rick Phillips told council, “It’s a new path and residents and families are pleased.”
