Four local athletes struck gold and then some at the Special Olympics National Summer Games in Antigonish Nova Scotia.
In the pool John Tinney of Belleville won gold in the 200 metre freestyle and 50 metre back stroke. Tinney also won two silver medals.
On the track, Adam James of Belleville had a gold in the 100 metres along with a 4th and two 5th place finishes.
Gaerrison Freeland of Campbellford earned gold in the 400 metre and the 4 x 100 relay as well as two silver, a bronze and a 4th.
Blair Bastien, also of Campbellford won gold in the 4 x 100 relay as well as a silver and bronze.
More than 1000 athletes competed in the Summer Games.
