Officials with Grace Inn are awaiting the city of Belleville’s approval to go ahead with demolition work at the proposed shelter in the downtown.
Board member Jodie Jenkins says he knows it takes time, and he doesn’t want “any surprises”.

The 21-bed emergency shelter for adults is being planned for the former Irish Hall building.
Jenkins tells Quinte News the entire process of demolition inside, and rebuilding, will take about three months.
“The worst case scenario, the building will be ready when the snow flies, best case scenario, September, October.”
He says many people and companies are ready to donate to the project.
