Another long weekend means another OPP traffic blitz.
Officers will be out along the 401 corridor and other local roadways watching out for the “big four” causes of crashes.
Those are distracted driving, impaired driving, speeding and seat belt use.
Northumberland OPP say traffic flows are expected to be heavier than normal this weekend, with cottagers and campers visiting the area to celebrate Canada Day and enjoy the long weekend.
Officers will also be out on local waterways and trails enforcing safe boating and off-road vehicle rules as well.
Last year, OPP laid nearly 213,000 speeding and over 4,800 street racing charges with more than 100 people being killed in speed-related collisions since 2017.
