After getting a taste of the mayor’s job in Prince Edward County over the past few months a longtime councillor is aiming to get the job on a full time basis.
Dianne O’Brien filed to run for the position late Monday afternoon.
O’Brien tells Quinte News the qualities that make her a strong candidate include her 12 years of experience on council, the experience of being acting mayor between May and June, along with her strong connection to the municipality.
O’Brien says while the municipality and council are operating smoothly right now, there are few things that can be improved on.
She joins another current councillor, Steve Ferguson, in the race to replace Robert Quaiff, who announced he won’t run for another term as head of PEC Council, after his recent provincial election loss.
Meanwhile, Ernest Margetson has also filed to run for a seat in Hillier Ward and elsewhere, Jeff Wheeldon has filed to run for a seat on Brighton Council.
