The Sexual Assault Centre for Quinte and District have issued a response in regards to the open letter penned by Norman Hardie.
Hardie is being accused of sexual misconduct following a Globe and Mail article earlier this week.
The Sexual Assault Centre stated “There is nothing “harmless or good natured” about this behavior. Framing it as “harmless or good natured” minimizes both the violence implicit in this behavior, as well as the impacts of sexual assault.”
The organization continues on to say “Certainly some individuals do mention having positive experiences. However, it is our position that while these good interactions may be legitimate, they do not contradict nor negate the other violent experiences disclosed.”
The Sexual Assault Centre for Quinte and District has delivered free and confidential crisis and counselling support to all survivors of sexual violence for over 28 years.
