Just three weeks into their inaugural season in the Ontario Football Conference Junior Varsity League, the Quinte Skyhawks chalk up their historic first victory. And it came on the road no less.
Carter Stephens hit Austin Grills for a 50-yard catch and run to give Quinte their first ever lead and they went on to beat the Toronto Jr. Argos 14-10. Jose Dava scored the winning touchdown in the third quarter.
Coach Peter Gabriel said “What a game. So proud of these young men who gave it their all today. It’s so nice to get the W for Quinte. Offense moved the ball, defence came up big when needed. This is definitely a confidence boost from another very good Toronto team”.
The Skyhawks are 1-2. They host Peterborough on Sunday at 6 at Mary Ann Sills Park.
