A week ago, the Quinte Skyhawks junior varsity football team made its debut in the Ontario Football conference. Tomorrow (Sat) they play their home opener at Mary Ann Sill Park.
The Skyhawks are made up of players in Grades 9 and 10. Most are playing at this level for the first time. Despite losing their opening game in Oshawa last week, Coach Peter Gabriel says the team played relatively well but it’s going to take some time for the expansion team to work through growing pains.
Gabriel says his team is geared up for the home opener against the Scarborough Thunder.
There are 17 teams in the Ontario Football Conference junior varsity division. The Skyhawks will play in the Eastern Conference. The Kick-Off for tomorrow’s home opener at Mary Ann Sills Park is 1 o’clock.
