Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation Executive Director Wendy Warner can’t believe she was able to keep such a huge announcement a secret for so long.
On Wednesday morning at Trenton Memorial, it was announced a million dollars was being donated to the Hospital Foundation from a local family.
Michael and Shirley Wade and their family decided to make the contribution after a significant injury to Michael.
The Wade family has donated $1 million to the Hospital Foundation, earning themselves a spot on the donor’s wall at the hospital under the Humanitarian category.
Warner says this rarely happens.
She says Michael and Shirley didn’t want to receive any recognition for their contribution, but she felt it was important enough to warrant it.
Warner says she hopes this will inspire others to make a contribution, noting how the government doesn’t purchase equipment for hospitals and that funding comes strictly from the community.
She says they need to raise $2.9 million this year.
There were also 140 new names added to the donor’s wall.
