The Wellington Dukes arrived in Chilliwack B.C. yesterday for the Canadian Junior “A” Hockey championship. It will be Wellington’s third trip to the RBC Cup and first since 2011.
Coach John Druce was there a year ago where he coached the host Cobourg Cougars to the national title. Does that experience help this time around?
Wellington will face 4 opponents they have not played before. Druce says scouting the other teams is secondary to playing their game.
Wellington opens the 5 team tournament tomorrow afternoon against the Ottawa Jr. Senators. Also in play are the Pacific champion Wenatchee Washington Wild, the Anavet Cup champion Steinbach Manitoba Pistons and the host Chilliwach Chiefs.
