The Ontario Hockey Association has named their top 6 prospects for next month’s NHL draft and 3 of them have Prince Edward County connections.
Bloomfield native Jett Alexander is the number one goaltending prospect in the OHA. The 18 year old Alexander had a 15-9 record with a 2.09 goals against average, a .929 save percentage and a shutout for the North York Rangers of the OJHL. Alexander played in the World Junior “A” Challenge and the Easters Canada Cup All Star Challenge. He is ranked 30th among North American goaltenders.

Wellington Dukes defencemen Declan Carlile and Mason Snell are also on the list. Carlile turns 18 next week. He had a 39 point season including 6 goals making him the 8th highest scoring rearguard in the OJHL. Carlile played a key role in helping the Dukes win the Ontario Junior Hockey League championship and the Buckland Cup as well as the Dudley-Hewitt Cup Central Canadian Junior Hockey title. Carlile is ranked 176th among North American skaters for the NHL Entry Draft in Central Scoutings final rankings. Carlile has committed to Merrrimack College in 2019.

Mason Snell is still 17. He was also to the All Dudley-Hewitt Cup Team on defence. Snell played for Team East at the World Junior “A” Challenge as well as the Eastern Canada Cup Challenge. Snell scored 20 points in 43 games and played a primary role in Wellington’s march to the RBC Cup. He is ranked 173rd among North American skaters. Snell is committed to Penn State in 2019.
