If finally passed by council, homeowners in Centre Hastings will pay just under 3% more in local taxes this year than last.
A staff report that council will see at its meeting Wednesday outlines the 2018 budget highlights. The 2.94% tax increase will mean about $77 more a year on the average home assessed at $198,000 in Centre Hastings.
About 1% of the tax increase is because of cost increases brought in by Bill 148, the Fair Workplaces Better Jobs Act, which, among other changes, increased the minimum wage.
