OPP and local fire departments, along with a crew from 424 Transport and Rescue Squadron were busy Sunday morning, eventually rescuing
two canoeists stranded on a small island in Cordova Lake not far north of Havelock.
The canoeists had stayed overnight on the island after their canoe had been swamped in rough waters.
Because of the turbulent waters, a 424 Squadron Griffon helicopter and crew worked to hoist the pair from the island and to safety.
They were in good condition.
