Two people have been arrested after a significant drug bust at a Cobourg motel.
OPP and members of the Cobourg and Port Hope police forces executed a warrant in a room at the hotel on Densmore Road yesterday and found close to $23,000 worth of illicit drugs, a starter’s pistol, ammunition and cash.
The drugs included methamphetamine, cocaine, diazepam and small amount of marijuana.

Police also say two young children were found inside the room and have been taken into care by the Highland Shores Children’s Aid Society.
Thirty-six-year-old Michael Austin Rutledge and 33-year-old Ashley Nicole Goncalves, both of no fixed address, are charged with various drug-related offences and driving while suspended.
Both were denied bail at a hearing this morning and will be kept in custody until their next court appearance on Monday.
