The Moira Trojans have suffered their first loss at the Ontario High School “AA” Girls hockey championships in Timmins.
Moira jumped out to an early 3-1 lead but the top ranked school from Rockland bounced back to win 7-4. Alexa Hoskin scored her 6th and 7th goals of the tournament. Kendall Tobobandung and Sydney Ward also scored. Moira will play in the quarter finals at 5 this afternoon.
The Centre Hastings Centurions are 1-2 at the Boys’ “AA” High School championship tournament in Collingwood. The Centurions aced Huron Park from Woodstock 1-0. They take on Petrolia this morning.
The OFSAA Curling Championships are being held in Fort Francis in Northern Ontario.
On the girls’ side, St. Theresa is 1-1 after the opening day. That rink includes Sarah Kay, Lindsay Marshall, Emily Morton and Emily Paris. The coach is Dave Christie.
In the boys’ tournament, Moira Secondary is 0-2. The Moira team includes Quinn Botley, Ryan Forgrave, Isaac Fullerton, Brady Lumley and Alex Tse. The coach is Bill Jackson.
And the Moira Trojans have won the St. Peters Junior Varsity boys’ hockey tournament in Peterborough. Moira defeated Holy Cross of Peterborough 2-1 in the final. Ethan Parliament and Nick Paris scored. Matt Tovell was in goal.
