(Golden hawks captain embraces former Belleville Bull Jake Bricknell following 6 game series loss to Aurora.)
The night started well for the Trenton Golden Hawks but when it ended so did their season.
Brock Welsh snapped a 2-2 tie mid way in the third then added an empty netter to give the Aurora Tigers a 4-2 victory to win their OJHL Conference quarter final 4 games to 2. Tiger McDonald and Michael Silveri gave the Golden Hawks an early 2-0 lead mid way in the first. It was fitting that Silveri would score the final goal of Trenton’s season. He played a prominent role in their two Dudley-Hewitt championships and runs to the national RBC Cup championshps. It was Silveri’s last Junior game.
It was also the final game for Trenton captain Mac Lewis.
That completes Marty Abrams first year as coach and general manager of the Golden Hawks. He’s already looking forward to next season.
Meanwhile it’s down to the final game of the Wellington-Pickering series tonight at the Essroc Arena. The underdog Panthers have pushed the Dukes to a 7th and deciding game at 8 o’clock.
