The Ontario provincial government is helping to keep the Brighton Quinte West Family Health Team strong by providing extra money to make salaries and benefits competitive with those paid by hospitals and other health care institutions.
Norhtumberland Quinte West MPP Lou Rinaldi announced over $50,000 in permanent base funding to boost pay and benefits in Brighton on Tuesday.
The Brighton Quinte West Family Health Team, the first of its kind in Ontario, now has 12 family doctors, and three nurse practitioners.
Another two doctors are expected to join in the near future.
The team serves over 14,000 patients.
