While many people need a reminder to put clocks forward this weekend, the Quinte West Fire Department is also reminding you that it’s a good time to make sure your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are working.
Fire Prevention Officer Sarah Scott tells Quinte News, while you should be testing your alarms monthly, the clock change is a good time to think about cleaning them and changing their batteries if needed.
Scott says if your alarm isn’t working, you can get one at most hardware stores.
There are eight fire-related deaths every week in Canada and Scott says a simple clean and operations check can make a big difference for you and your family, in case of fire.
