UPDATE: Woman killed identified as Florence Wyatt-Morris
An 88-year-old woman was killed in a collision in Napanee late Tuesday afternoon.
The crash ended a police pursuit which began at around 3:30 p.m. on Bridge Street.
OPP officers tried to stop a speeding SUV but its driver ignored police and took off, driving in an erratic and dangerous manner.
The crash occurred on County Road 2 near Switzerville Road.
A 42-year-old man, the driver of the SUV, suffered serious injuries.
The woman killed was driving the car involved in the collision.
The province’s Special Investigations Unit has taken over the investigation.
The SIU invokes its mandate in incidents involving police where death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault occur.
