Monday marks Violence Awareness and Random Acts of Kindness Week in the Quinte Region, which is celebrating 22 years of promoting positive energy to counteract the negative effects of senseless violence in society.
The week kicks off with opening ceremonies in the Kindness Court at Quinte Mall, at 6:30 Monday night.
Starting Tuesday, “Kindness Crews” will be making impromptu stops across the Quinte Region to bestow good deeds on unsuspecting residents.
Organizers of the week are asking that “if you receive a random act of kindness, pass it on”.
On Wednesday it’s Blue Ribbon of Hope Day in support of the initiative, with local businesses and organizations asked to post messages of kindness on exterior signs.
You can also vote for the “Kindness Citizen of the Year Award,” with the winner being announced on March 10 and their name being permanently displayed on a pillar in the Kindness Court.
The week concludes on Sunday March 11 with Random Acts of Kindness Day and kindness activities through the week offered at 62 area elementary schools and 15 high schools.
