A recent ice jam in Tyendinaga Township almost caused an evacuation for half a dozen homes.
Last Wednesday, ice let go on the Salmon River in Lonsdale, forcing ice to build up in Waddingham Valley, at Parker Lane.
Township CAO Steve Mercer says in just a few hours, the river rose between 48 and 60 inches, almost prompting an evacuation for one home.
