The outbreak of influenza this winter has still not yet cleared out of the Quinte area.
The Quinte area flu season has been a relatively mild one, but a number of cases showed up in Long Term Care and Retirement homes.
Hastings Prince Edward Health Unit program manager for communicable diseases Bill Sherlock says there are still outbreaks remaining in Hastings Manor and Hallowell House, with Influenza A and Influenza B.
Sherlock says A is a little bit more severe. He has advice for people to avoid getting the flu.
Sherlock says the Health Unit monitors the absentee rates at schools. He says there is a lot of respiratory virus in the community but he didn’t know if there was influenza in the schools or if it was other respiratory issues.
